Public space and choreography residency: a journey in the night "ööö"

Karolin Poska, Maret Tamme, Theodore Parker

The lecture series "Public Space and Choreography" of the 2021/22 season at Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava explores the connections between public space and choreography. How the environment around us forms a meaningful space; what new attitudes and relationships can emerge from existing places; how can choreography influence and conceptualise public space; what are the choreographies of urban space.

During their residency, Maret Tamme, Theodore Parker and Karolin Poska explored the nighttime public space, and on May 30 and 31, 2022, starting at 11 pm, you can take part in a night summarizing their process.

This showing explores the public space as seen through the perspective of the night. The participants will travel along a guided path around the city in order to view and participate in unusual or odd late night activities.

PARTICIPATION IS FREE! Only 4 participants at a time can participate. It is required to sign up for the event via Fienta in advance.

Once signed up, the performers will be in contact with the participants. Additionally, all participants must have a smart phone with reasonable internet access and headphones. We request the participants to download the app ECHOES (more info below). The journey starts from in front of Linnahalli Circle K gas station.

The residency showing will occur in three stages with total duration lasting around 2 hours.
