VAT Theatre is the oldest independent theatre company in Estonia (founded on October 1, 1987). Theatre’s repertoire ranges from shows for teenagers to adults. VAT is known for its physical, playful and minimalistic style, often combining live music, complicated choreography and new technological solutions.

VAT Theatre values highly the educational side of theatre practice and has an extensive educational program that consists of workshops, work materials, competitions etc. for the young audiences. VAT Theatre is a member of Estonian Theatre Association, Estonian Association of Performing Arts Institutions, Estonian Centre of ASSITEJ, Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations.

Due to the renovation of the Estonian National Library, the homestage of VAT Theatre is currently in Sakala 3 theatre house. VAT Theatre also travels around with its shows in Estonia and abroad. Since 1993 the artistic director of VAT Theatre is Aare Toikka. Since 1995 the managing director is Tiina Rebane.
