Emajõe Suveteater was established as the first Estonian professional summer theatre when MTÜ Tartu Suveteatri Selts was founded on July 19, 1996. The theatre is managed by Andres Dvinjaninov.
From 2014, MTÜ Tartu Suveteatri Selts performs from autumn to spring under the name Karlova Theatre in a cozy theatre house on Tähe Street in Tartu.
