"Solo" was created during a residency period at Fine5 Dance Theatre in Tallinn, in autumn 2022. The performance takes place at the lobby of Sakala 3 theatre house.

I have been feeling out our smallness.
How we flail around here with fear.
Flail and faff around towards the world.
Such a terrifying vastness.

Controlling, blaming, obstructing, trapping.
Preventing with all one’s might.
Holding on.

Anything but change.
If one was to let go light would seep in.
Light and tenderness and grace and dignity.
Such a terrifying thought.

One foot in the grave. Trickling into crookedness piece by piece.
Trying to believe nothing is lost yet.
Better is yet to come.

Any minute now.
Don’t change a thing. Or else everything will fall apart.

Reetta Honkakoski is a physical theatre director and a Corporeal Mime artist, whose shows are created in a close artistic dialogue with sound designer Tuuli Kyttälä and lighting designer Sisu Nojonen. Their work The Desk [Pulpetti] received rave reviews and won the prestigious Scotsman Fringe First Award at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019.

Gruppen Fyra is a Helsinki-based dance company that plays on the interfaces of contemporary dance, dance theatre and humor. Founded in 1998 the company is run by dancers and commissions work from visiting choreographers. The Soiree is performed by their dancers Tommi Haapaniemi, Pia Liski and Virpi Juntti, as well as Katri Soini, one of the top names in Finnish contemporary dance. The Soiree is Honkakoski’s and Gruppen Fyra’s first collaboration.
