In the satirical fairy tale The Dragon, written in 1943, the writer Yevgeny Schwartz condemns power, egoism, misanthropy, and militarist demagoguery. The play calls people to stand up for human dignity and for those who are repressed - this topic is important also today.

The writer Yevgeny Schwartz (1896-1958) started out in theatre as an actor. In his plays fairy-tale fantasies are mixed with realist descriptions of his contemporary times. His characters come from internationally well-known fairy-tales, impersonating the negative and positive phenomena of the current reality. The morale of his stories - how good always beats evil - can be seen as the inner conviction of the author.

Premiere: 5 July 2008 at 19:00 in Kuressaare Lossihoov.
