Opal's Husband

Author:
John Patrick
Director:
Premiere:
Esietendus 18. jaanuaril 2008
Author: John Patrick
Director: Vello Janson

The author John Patrick has written at least five plays about the life of Opal Kronkie, a woman who lives at the edge of the municipal dump and passionately collects things, mainly junk. These plays are only connected through the protagonist - Opal. One of them, Everybody Loves Opal, was recently performed at the Estonian Drama Theatre and the production was a great success. The comedy was directed by Ivo Eensalu and Opal was played by Maria Klenskaja who plays the same role in this production as well.
Opal is a lonely woman with a golden heart. She thinks that her friend Rosie needs a man in her life as a solution to all her problems. Through a newspaper advertisement she finds a suitable personal ad and on behalf of her friend begins to exchange letters with that man. Then comes the day when the couple has to meet for the first time ...
How this meeting ends and what kind of adventures and trouble it brings to Opal cannot be told here - otherwise there would be no reason to watch the performance. Let's just say that no good deed goes ... without consequences.
Cast: Maria Klenskaja (Estonian Drama Theatre), Helene Vannari (Tallinn City Theatre), Ivo Eensalu, Eva Püssa, Raivo Mets or Vello Janson.
