'What could happen to a nest egg as long as there is at least one compassionate heart in the world?'

'Fritz the Sparrow' is a heart-warming story. Once upon a time, an old man and an old lady were living in a house. One of them was pleased at feeding the sparrows, for the other one, rats were wonderful animals that needed care. These lonely Olds meet accidentally in front of their house and start arguing right away - about whose joy is better. From this argument, our story of a small sparrow starts who is trying to fly like an eagle, but instead falls into a cellar hole. From this event on, a seemingly impossible friendship starts between the sparrow with a noble name and three smart rats.

'Fritz the Sparrow' is written by Rudolf Herfurtner, born 1947 in Wasserburg, Germany. After German language and literature, Romance philology, and drama studies in Munich, he worked at the Munich daily starting from 1971. Rudolf Herfurtner is one of the most famous children and youth writers in Germany. His 'Geheime Freunde' (Secret Friends) (1986) is the most successful children play ever written in Germany. Today, Herfurtner lives as a freelance writer in Munich.

The play in one act lasts 50 minutes.
