Author and performer Mizuki Taka

The name of Mizuki Taka's show Doldrums refers to an equatorial region of the Atlantic Ocean which is known for its calms, sudden storms, and light unpredictable winds. In the history of navigation doldrums are famous as dead zones, where sailing ships sometimes get stuck on windless waters. The term is also used to mark  a state or period of stagnation or depression. Indignation? Or perhaps just uncertainty?

Isn't the accumulation of something uncertain and incoherent most of humanity. How much more certainty is needed in this rational society?Perhaps its enough if love is conveyed?

In her show Mizuki expresses these sempiternal dilemmas through movement - whether to wait for the wind and keep going; or to accept the windless stagnation and give hope no chance.
