The universe has been peaceful for centuries. People are soaked with love and there’s harmony everywhere. Except in a far corner of space, the unmapped Tau Ceti region. That’s where a young scientist by the name of Duran Duran recently disappeared. Now everyone has reason to be afraid because he has in his possession something that no one has had for centuries: a weapon. There’s only one person who can save the union of the loving universe from destruction – Barbarella, a hypersexy warrior of love who flies straight into the starry sky in her pink and hairy spaceship. But her journey to Duran Duran takes an unexpected turn. Actually she could never guess where she’s really heading.
Von Krahl’s creative team brings to the audience an immersive space-trip experience using top-notch visual art and big cinema screens. Combined with costumes from one of Europe’s most interesting eco-fashion designers Reet Aus and music by a cool young composer of electronic music Jakob Juhkam this is definitely one of the most ambitious and atmospheric theatre pieces of the season.
The play is loosely based on Roger Vadim’s 1968 cult film by the same title and Raymond Carver’s short-story “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love”.
